Tip #1 - Find your style

This isn't just about aesthetics, this is about discovering who you are, what lights you up so you can incorporate this into your surroundings and feel the positive impact of how it feels to live in an environment that represents the depths of your soul. Your bedroom is your sacred space that should reflect your personal style and also accommodate & align with your personal needs and interests.

Did you know even your love language and personality style should be considered when designing your bedroom?

Your style is unique and when you can discover it and incorporate it into your surroundings, you will feel totally inspired & aligned with your environment which in turn will create a more beautiful everyday life for you.

Tips on how to do this;

  • Create a Pinterest board or a physical mood board.

Tip #2 - Declutter & organise

It's time to clear away old energies and make way for a fresh start for the new season. If you haven’t read ‘The life changing magic of tidying up’ then I suggest you do this ASAP.

A unique insight from the book is;

“First put your hands on everything you own, ask yourself if it sparks joy, and if it doesn’t thank it for its service and get rid of it.”

Here are some steps to declutter and organise your bedroom:

  1. Start by taking everything out of your closet and drawers.

  2. Sort your belongings into three piles: keep, donate/sell, and throw away.

  3. Deep clean and vacuum, wipe down the spaces before putting items back.

  4. Organise your belongings by category (e.g. shirts, pants, shoes) and then by color or frequency of use.

  5. Use storage containers, such as baskets or boxes, to keep smaller items organized and out of sight.

  6. Consider donating or selling items that you haven't used in a while or that no longer bring you joy.

  7. Make it a habit to regularly clean and declutter your bedroom to maintain a peaceful and organized space.

Tip #3 - Make your bedding plush & upgrade your textiles

When choosing textiles for your bedroom, consider the color scheme, texture, and pattern. Opt for materials that are soft and comfortable to the touch, such as cotton, silk, and linen. Mixing and matching different textures and patterns can add depth and interest to the overall look. Don't be afraid to play with bold colors or statement pieces, but make sure they complement the rest of the room. Lastly, don't forget to incorporate layers, such as throw blankets and accent pillows, to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

Interior Designer tips for choosing textiles for your bedroom

  • Invest in good quality comfortable mattresses and pillows.

  • Add a mattress topper for extra comfort

  • Use two doonas on your bed instead of one to create a luxurious hotel feel bed

  • Use feather filled feature cushions - these create a luxurious look when styled properly, they are comfier and allow for the infamous karate chop styling.

  • Play with different textures and patterns pending on the style of your space.

  • Textiles is a great way to bring your 10% of colour into a space.

  • Window furnishings to be both functional and to soften the look of your space, we love using a combination of either block out blinds or curtains layered with sheer linen curtains

  • Add a large area rug to soften & ground the space, create comfort, help with noise polution etc.

Tip #4 - Lighting

Lighting in your bedroom is important for several reasons. Firstly, it sets the mood and ambiance of the room. A well-lit room can make you feel more energized and awake, while a dimly lit room can create a relaxing and calming environment. Additionally, proper lighting can help prevent eye strain and headaches when reading or working in bed. Lastly, lighting can also enhance the overall aesthetic of your bedroom and highlight certain features or decor. Overall, investing in good lighting for your bedroom can greatly improve your comfort and well-being.
